Vodafone Pocket Wifi – How To Secure Your Device Plus More Information

This video tutorial will teach you how to secure your Vodafone pocket wifi device, how to send SMS from the router and how you can quickly check your data usage.

Even if you don’t own this hotspot, you might find it interesting to see what the router homepage is like. You might also want to watch my Vodafone pocket wifi review (it’s a video as well).

That’s a lot of data to use in just over 1 week! Are you surfing YouTube a lot of the time or is it something else using the data.

If you’re not too far offshore on your boat, I’d go with Vodafone (mine worked fine throughout Port Phillip Bay when I was on the Spirit Of Tasmania). If you’re far out though, Telstra is probably your best bet as they have the best coverage (but not the best quota unfortunately).

Prepaid or postpaid? Do you live in regional Australia? Sounds like it might be reverting back to EDGE network. Just a guess though without further information. Send me an email at admin@portablewifi.com.au and I will try to help you further.

Trying to sign up to ‘My Vodafone’ to monitor my Pocket wifi account. My Vodafone says it’s sent a Temporary Password by SMS.

Note there is a UK site for accessing text messages but cannot find one for Aus.

Be pleased if you will tell me how I may access SMSs on a Pocket wifi-connected notebook?

Thanks in anticipation.

Sincerely – Brian

Hi Brian,

It is sent to the pocket wifi device itself, you can check that by typing http://pocket.wifi into your browser and going to the inbox; it isn’t that clear on the site is it!

Watched you ‘How To Secure Your Device Plus More’ video, thanks – answered my questions — and others — but now I cannot access and/or connect to Pocket WiFi!

Hi there, just noticed your response, thanks — any idea of any quick generic cause of my having somehow denied myself access to Pocket WiFi? I did everything up to “advanced settings” and to where you begin talking about SIMs?

Thanks a million – Brian

Sounds like maybe you’re not connected to it.

Try disable wireless on your computer and plugging it in via USB and then going to the same address and see if you have any luck then.

You will also need to change the password in the wireless settings for your computer if you changed the password on the pocket wifi.

My apologies for my ignorance but where do I disable wireless and change my password?

Windows 7 Ultimate – I’m in Network Sharing Center / Manage Wireless Networks / etceteras ….

I’m on a Mac and I’ve never used Windows 7 but if it’s anything like Windows XP, go into networking options, wireless connect and right click it, then click properties and you should get some different options to disable it or simply change the password in the settings.

Thanks – I’ll have a crack at it.

“I’m on a Mac” – Sensible Man! I have been too, since 1984 — and Apples before that – until recently. Have an almost never opened – except to expand it a bit and install an improvised color video card – SE/30 that still boots when I’m showing it off.

And now? PC? Yetch!

I can’t log on to my account on my vodafone. It says enter a mobile phone number but where is the mobile phone number for a pocket wifi? I am really confused because I want to look at how much I have used up and how much there’s left and stuff like that but a more accurate version than the history thing. Please help
